Maria Matyazova, soprano

Russian-Swedish soprano Maria Matyazova is appreciated for her beautiful timbre and powerful dramatic stage presence. She recently appeared at the Royal Swedish Opera as Tatyana (Eugeny Onegin), Soprano (Les Noces), Brigitta (Iolantha), Prima Sorella Cercatrice (Suor Angelica), Chloe (Queen of Spades), Contessa Ceprano (Rigoletto), Barena (Jenufa), Schleppträgerin (Elektra).

Maria took part in several world-premieres, among others role of Esther in Löftet by Mats Larsson Gothe, Saturday in Tristessa by J.Bohlin both for Royal Swedish Opera, Stasi in Näsflöjten by F.Österling for Vadstena Festival and Piteå Kammaropera, Operapantomim for Folkoperan.  

Other roles include Desdemona (Opera at Steninge Castle), Micaela (Skånska Operan, Valdemarsvikoperan), Iolantha (Royal Academy Opera), Countessa, Gilda (St Petersburg Chamber Opera), Fedra (Folkoperan), Pamina (Grail theatre), First Flowermaiden (London Wagner Society). She started her career at the Mariinsky theatre in Saint-Petersburg, where she sang Page in Lohengrin alonside Gösta Winbergh and under baton of Valery Gergiev and Gianandrea Noseda. Maria also took part in Salzburg Festspiele and Mikkele Festival.

Maria is a very passionate sought-after concert singer. Her repertoire contains songs by Debussy, Alfven, Stenhammar, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Rahmaninov, R.Strauss as well as Argento, Szymanowski, Schostakovich and Ravel. She sang in concerts and recitals at the Royal Swedish Opera, Stockholm Konserthuset, Stockholm Globe, Berwaldhalle, Wigmore Hall, St.Petersburg State Capella, St Petersburg Composer House, Ekaterinburg Philarmonic Hall, Omsk Philarmonic Hall etc. Maria also regularly performs in concerts for elderly and disabled people in collaboration with Stockholm Cultural Comittee. She made a brilliant debut at the Royal Swedih Opera's digital platform Operanplay in March 2020 featuring songs by Rahmaninov, Rimsky-Korsakov and Tchaikovsky. 

Maria got her education at the Royal Academy of Music in London, University College of Opera in Stockholm and University of Humanitties and Social Sciences in St Petersburg. She developed her skills at the Mozarteum, Georg Solti Accademia di Belcanto, Samling Institute for Young Artists. She is a recipient of prestigious scholarships among others Anders Wall Foundation, Swedish Art Grant, Royal Swedish Opera Soloists Foundation.
